Our General Manager
Stephen Jay
Stephen oversees the governance of our business and has extensive experience as a people manager of both technical and commercial teams. Stephen successfully leads our multi-disciplined team to realise value for our clients through practical solutions.
Stephen is a Chartered Engineer with 20 years industry experience in generation (wind, hydro, nuclear, thermal), transmission, distribution, engineering management and asset management.

Stephen Matheson
Stephen has 35 years experience in both local government and consulting engineering firms. He is an experienced Manager and Civil Engineer with a sound and practical knowledge in Hydro Electric development, Project Management and Asset Management systems. Stephen has considerable experience in the design and construction of roads, hydro electric schemes, earthworks and piping work.
Stephen is one of our principal engineers and an experienced team leader responsible for the management of a team specialising in project management and draughting.
Tony Mitton
Tony has worked in the power industry for over 30 years both in NZ and overseas. His fields of expertise includes substation design, construction management, commissioning, earthing design and testing and special investigations. From 1990 to 2007 Tony was the managing director of Mitton Consulting Ltd which merged in 2007 with Electronet Design to form a new company which now includes over 35 staff.
John English
John has 24 years experience within the NZ power industry. His experience includes HV substation and switchyard design at the transmission and distribution levels, construction management, cable installation design, commissioning, and embedment studies.
John is one of our principal electrical engineers and an experienced team leader responsible for the management of a team specialising in substation design.
Martin Outram
Martin is a Chartered Engineer and has extensive experience in the power industry, including experience in the switchgear manufacturing industry and the planning, design and operation of the power and protection systems in a large city. Recently as a principal consultant responsible for protection studies, relay settings and the design and modification of indoor and outdoor substations.
Martin is one of our principal electrical engineers and an experienced team leader responsible for a team specialising in substation design and protection.
Mike McSherry
Mike is a Chartered Engineer with 27 years experience in the electricity supply industry involving technical and commercial team leadership and project management.
Recent experience involves developing asset management and safety management systems to demanding international standards.
Philip Boys
Phillip is a principal electrical engineer and has extensive experience in the fields of earthing, lightning protection and substation design.
Philip is one of our experienced team leaders responsible for the management of a team specialising in the design and safety analysis of new and existing earthing systems.
James Rouse
James Rouse has over seven years experience within the UK and NZ power industries. He has extensive experience in the fields of project management, primary and secondary substation design at distribution and transmission levels, protection studies and windfarm design including grid connection.
James is one of our team leaders responsible the management of a team specialising in Hydro and Wind Generation.
Yelena Pogrebinskaya
Yelena is a principal electrical engineer and has 30 years industry experience having first worked as an engineer for the State Consultancy in the Ukraine for 15 years prior to immigrating to New Zealand in 1995. Yelena has very strong PLC and Control systems design and commissioning expertise.

Angus Henderson
Angus is a very experienced project manager, systems engineer and communications strategist. He is skilled in the fields of technology and systems engineering and adapts easily to changing business needs in the technology world. Angus is an experienced member of our team specialising in communications and control.
Anthony Brailsford
Anthony has over 20 years experience in the design and interface management of complex electronic & electrical systems found within the Electricity Supply Industry, Power Generation, Rail Transportation and Defence industries both within the New Zealand, United Kingdom and Sweden.
Anthony is an experienced member of our team specialising in substation design, control and communications.
Bruce West
Bruce has 17 years industry experience as an engineer and asset manager of Transmission, Thermal and Hydro Electric Plant. He has extensive experience in computer programming and software testing.
Bruce is one of our experienced team specialising in Generation, Transmission and Distribution equipment.
Neil Wiggins
Neil is an experienced engineer in the field of High Voltage systems, project and contract management. Neil also 15 years practical industry experience.
Neil is an experienced member the team specialising in substation design.
Paul Vaughan
Paul is a Chartered Engineer with over 15 years experience in the power industry, including hydro power engineering experience in both New Zealand and Australia. He has acted in both consultancy and asset owner roles and thereby understands client needs for maintainability and life cycle cost optimisation.
Paul is a valued member of our team specialising in generation design and commissioning services.
Robin Watson
Robin specialises primarily in substation design. He has been the lead designer and project engineer for major 66 kV substation upgrades, 33 kV and 11 kV capacitor banks, and several protection and control projects. Robin has presented at industry workshops and published papers on earthing safety.
Robin is a valued member of our team specialising in substation design, communication and control.
Olly Powell
Olly is an Electrical Engineer with six years experience designing advanced silicon solar cells and four years developing micro-systems for optical communications and environmental sensors. He has experience in soil resistivity testing, earth system modelling and testing, static load flow studies, Matlab, PSCAD and CDEGS modelling.
Olly is a valued member of our team specialising in the design and safety analysis of new and existing earthing systems.
Jenny Chi
Jenny is experienced in the fields of automation and control systems, project management, DC system review, solution studies, high voltage testing, and earthing system injection and soil resistivity testing.
Jenny is a valued team member of our substation design, communications, and control team.
Kieran Kennedy
Kieran has had four years experience, being employed by Mitton ElectroNet from University. Initially specialising in earth grid injection testing, soil resistivity testing and earth grid design, Kieran has more recently begun specialising in the area of substation design. He has been involved with multiple transformer, circuit breaker, and protection replacements and is now beginning to design greenfield substations.
Kieran has presented on earthing related topics across NZ, Australia and the US. He is a valued member of our team providing expertise in the area of earthing and gaining valuable experience in the area of substation design.
John Taylor
John has had four years experience in the fields of risk analysis, earth grid injection testing, and soil resistivity testing. He is skilled in the fields of power system earthing design, testing, and analysis.

James has experience in the fields of earth grid design, EMF/EPR and lightning shield studies.

Matt Anderson
Matt has 24 years electricity industry experience (HV and LV). He has been involved in design draughting for all the major voltages up to 220kV. Matt has been involved in design, installation and maintenance of a wide range of electrical disciplines in varied sectors of the electrical industry.

Hamish McClea
Hamish has been involved with transformer automatic voltage regulator (AVR) design and SEL relay programming. He is involved with small hydro design and is currently working on distribution substation design. He has previous experience with our team specialising in the design and safety analysis of new and existing earthing systems.

Marlon has experience in the fields of earth grid design, EMF/EPR and lightning shield studies.

Lillian Lei
Lilian has worked at Mitton ElectroNet Ltd since 2007. She is experienced in design draughting and Substation design.

Nathan Rich
Nathan is a 2011 graduate electrical engineer specialising in power systems and communications. His work experience includes the maintenance of the phone and broadband network throughout the South Island as well as the hands-on overhaul of various substations throughout Wellington City.
Stuart McGirr
Stuart is a recent graduate electrical engineer, specialising in power systems. His previous summer work experience includes, lightning protection assessment, GIS maintenance, relay commissioning and transformer refurbishment within the West Coast network.
Design Draughting
Hels Lopaz
Hels is skilled in the fields of design, 3D modelling and drawings automation. He has extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and Raster Design to produce and update drawings to a high standard for companies within the High Voltage Electrical Industry. Hels is an experienced member of our draughting team.
Doug Mills
Doug has 31 years electricity industry draughting experience and been involved in design draughting for all the major voltages. Doug has designed several “green field” substations, starting from the relay & instrument diagram and working through the civil, structural, protection, cabinet design & communications disciplines. Doug is a valued and experienced member of our draughting team.
Quinton Moss
Quinton has worked for the company since July 2009. He has extensive experience with AutoCAD to produce and update drawings to a high standard.

Brian Avery
Brian is skilled in design and drawing for highly detailed equipment. He has extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and Raster Design, to produce and update drawings to a high standard for companies within the High Voltage Electrical Industry. Brian is a valued member of our draughting team.

Adrian Wells
Adrian has worked in the NZ power industry for 27 years. He is experienced in the fields of hydro powerstation and substation design, construction management and commissioning. Adrian is an experienced member of our project management and draughting team.
Accounts and Office Management
Janice Cassidy
Janice has worked at Mitton ElectroNet since 2009. She has many years of experience in accounting roles.
Valerie Lang
Valerie is our office administrator and PA to the General Manager. She has over 13 years experience in administration and office management and has extensive knowledge of operational Health and Safety systems and practices.
